Do you know how Osceola County got its name? Osceola was a Seminole military warrior in the 1830’s during the Second Seminole War. Although he was referred to as Chief Osceola, he was never a chief. His real name was Billy Powell. He is remembered and honored as a great fighter and resistance leader, hence earning our county being named after him.
