The U.S. State Department had called Tehran's decision "unacceptable". Araghchi was responding on X to the German Foreign Office, which said the decision to suspend cooperation with the United Nations ' nuclear watchdog "eliminates any possibility of international oversight" of Iran's nuclear program.

But US President Donald Trump then said he was not speaking to Iran and was not offering Tehran anything. Iran's deputy foreign minister has told the BBC his country won't enter into talks on its nuclear programme.
