McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was at a loss to explain why his Formula 1 form had dipped following the Mexican Grand Prix. The Australian qualified eighth for the race weekend, while teammate Lando Norris claimed a dominant pole over the rest of the field.
Oscar Piastri has admitted that his driving style has changed as the F1 championship race has heated up towards the end of the season. For the first time since Saudi Arabia, Lando Norris claimed the lead in the drivers’ standings and sits a point ahead of his McLaren team-mate after a dominant display at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Norris now leads the championship with 357 points, one more than Piastri (356). Max Verstappen (321) remains in third place, 36 behind Norris. There are still 116 points available from the final four grands prix, which include two sprints.
Oscar Piastri is still unsure whether the changes to his driving style have helped him refind his groove with the McLaren after finishing fifth in Mexico City.
