Fueled by hot and dry conditions, the Pickett Fire in Napa County grew over the weekend, becoming the largest in the region this year as it spurred evacuations while threatening homes and vineyards.

A fire burning near Silverado Trail wineries prompted evacuation orders in Napa County. The Pickett Fire was reported around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, off Pickett Road, near Calistoga. By Saturday night, it had burned 6,531 acres (10 square miles) with 11% containment, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said.

The Pickett Fire in California's Napa County had burned 4,690 acres as of Saturday morning, making it the largest fire in the Bay Area since last year.
