Paramount's cuts across the company hit CBS News on Wednesday, with the streaming editions of CBS Mornings and the CBS Evening News canceled.
There are more big changes coming for CBS News, but for the first time in a while, they can’t be traced to new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Paramount underwent a round of layoffs today, eliminating 1,000 jobs across the company.
CBS Evening was the big standout for the week of October 20, recording double-digit growth among total viewers across its five days of airing. This positive news is somewhat dimmed by the fact that one of the show’s co-hosts, John Dickerson, announced his intended departure from the broadcast and the network at the end of the year.
John Dickerson, co-anchor of “CBS Evening News,” said Monday he will exit the network at the end of the year. Dickerson will be the first major talent departure since the arrival of Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News last month.
Baier addressed speculation that CBS News, now helmed editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, is eyeing him to front its flagship Evening News broadcast.
John Dickerson is leaving CBS News at the end of the year as Bari Weiss takes over as the new editor-in-chief. Dickerson has been with the network since 2009 and, in January of this year, began co-anchoring the CBS Evening News alongside Maurice DuBois.
