Shares of Dow Inc. jumped 12.95% to $24.51 Thursday, on what proved to be an all-around favorable trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index rising 0.58% to 6,738.44 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.

Dow hits record high as U.S. stocks soar. Investors cheered a lighter-than-expected inflation report. The Dow Jones climbed 400 points. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also posted strong gains. Technology and semiconductor stocks led the rally.

Also, IBD MarketSurge Growth 250 name Newmont NEM trimmed larger morning losses to roughly 4% despite the gold miner's third-quarter earnings and sales that beat views. Its profit grew 111% to $1.71 per share on sales that grew 20% to $5.524 billion.
