Confidence continues to increase that parts of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa could see significant severe weather later this afternoon and tonight.
We get a break in the rain for the early part of your Monday but don’t expect much in the way of sunshine. Clouds will dominate and a few showers are possible this afternoon with a high of 70. Another round of storms moves in late tonight and into the early morning hours.
On Wednesday, a massive “dirtnado” occurred near the small town of Big Sandy in northwest Montana. The dust originated in Montana, where severe drought persists in portions of the state. Of course, there are wide open spaces stretching from central Montana into northwest Minnesota as well.
Most of Monday stays quiet with patchy sunshine and highs in the 60s. Storm chances return to Minnesota on Monday evening. There is a level 1 and level 2 threat of severe weather. Showers linger overnight before clearing for a drier day on Tuesday.
A storm sweeping across the country will bring the threat of damaging weather to Minnesota, mostly in the southern and southeastern portions, meteorologists say.
