GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating a fatal Tuesday morning crash on Route 12 in Groton, where a 23-year-old man struck a steel traffic pole at the southwest corner of Kings Highway.

A Groton man is dead after crashing into a pole while speeding, Groton Town police said. Just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Groton Town patrol officer saw the car speed through a red light on Route 12.
