Voters in northern Oklahoma will cast their ballots to decide which Republican could represent them at the state Capitol.

Senate Bill 652, which took effect in Nov. 2025, consolidates Oklahoma’s election dates into five days per year. This applies to all elections held after Jan. 1.

A dozen new Oklahoma laws are in effect as of January first. One aims at simplifying election participation in the state.

A new political party hopes to gather enough signatures to appear on this year’s ballot. The Sooner State Party must gather 35,000 signatures by Feb. 20 to become a recognized political party, said co-founder C.J. Webber-Neal. Webber-Neal said supporters have gathered 22,000 signatures.

The new year brought a new law that changes Oklahoma's election calendar. Lawmakers hope this will improve voter turnout, and bring more consistency and clarity.
