Joe Mazzulla sparks new trend in NBA media-team relations with Boston Celtics media game
Per Denver Post reporter Bennett Durando, the Nuggets coaching staff came away with a 114-16 obliteration of the team's media in a similar preseason exhibition contest.
"There are things he needs to clean up, obviously, but I thought he did a great job helping set that third quarter tone with his effort and his toughness," said Mazzulla.
I’m not having a great memory of this day, because we lost a game we could have won.” The post Celtics rookie Hugo Gonzalez makes NBA debut, shows promise in loss to Knicks appeared first on Boston.com.
The New York Knicks dominated the Boston Celtics 105-95 for their second victory in as many games to open the season.
For the Celtics, that series brought more pain than they could have anticipated, with Jayson Tatum’s torn Achilles only worsening the sudden end to a championship defense. Given the opponent, Wednesday’s trip back to the famous arena meant a little extra to the returning Boston players.
Jalen Brunson scored 31 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had 26 points and 13 rebounds and the New York Knicks rode a huge second quarter to a 105-95 victory over the Boston Celtics on Friday night and a 2-0 start to the season.
Defensively, he hounded Jalen Brunson and other Knicks guards for much of the time he was on the court, helping to keep New York’s offense in check beyond the 42-point second quarter disaster. Gonzalez can provide ball pressure, fights hard for rebounds and looks like someone who knows his role offensively already.
The 'Back to the Future' star was spotted sitting courtside at Friday's game, stealing the show as he appeared on the Jumbotron.
The Maine Celtics acquired forward Stefan Todorovic in a trade and made two second-round picks in the NBA G League draft on Saturday. Maine sent a 2027 first-round pick to Motor City in the deal for Todorovic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia. Motor City selected Todorovic with the seventh overall pick.
The Boston Celtics made a series of trades during the summer offseason, effectively breaking apart their 2023-25 championship-caliber core to save money while six-time All-Star power forward Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles tendon for most or all of the 2025-26 season.
