Someone in Memphis woke up $100,000 richer Thursday morning. Officials with the Tennessee Lottery said a winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Quince Food Mart on Quince Road. That ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball. The player added a Power Play to their ticket, doubling what would have been a $50,000 windfall.
The top 10 lottery jackpots consist of five Mega Millions drawings and five Powerball drawings. Interestingly, eight of the top ten drawings happened this decade, and only two took place in 2016 and 2018. Tickets can be purchased in person at gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores. Some airport terminals may also sell lottery tickets.
The U.S. has seen 10 lottery jackpot prizes exceed $1.2 billion since 2016. The record prize was $2.04 billion in November 2022.
