Wave goodbye to Messenger desktop apps! On December 15, Meta is steering users towards the Facebook website for seamless in-browser chats.
Meta will stop developing the Messenger app for Windows and Mac users after December 14, 2025 and suggest using the website or FB app.
The standalone app of Facebook Messenger for Windows and Mac will be discontinued later this year. Meta has confirmed this.
If you're using Messenger on macOS, you'll want to switch to something else — and probably sooner, rather than later.
