A large search is underway for two hunters who were last seen in a wilderness area near the border of New Mexico and Colorado.

Two elk hunters who were reported as missing in the San Juan National Forest Wilderness Area on Saturday were found dead, the aunt of one of the hunters told FOX31 on Thursday afternoon.

“It is with a broken heart and through tears that I give you this update. Andrew and Ian have both been found deceased,” wrote Runkle, who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
