ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Delta Airlines says it will begin reducing flights on Friday following a directive from the Federal Aviation Administration due to the ongoing government shutdown. Beginning on Nov. 8, 170 flights will be canceled at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport.
Now that the longest government shutdown in U.S. history has ended, airlines are offering guidance on when flight traffic will return to normal.
"It's been very disruptive for the last week — when you go in with no notice and you just arbitrarily reduce the amount of flying in the system for all of us, it's incredibly disruptive for our customers," Delta ( DAL) CEO Ed Bastian said at Yahoo Finance's Invest event on Thursday.
