“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Anthony Geary, whose portrayal of Luke Spencer helped define General Hospital and daytime television,” ABC said in a statement to NPR. Geary died in Amsterdam of complications from a surgical procedure he had three days prior, NPR reported.

The British actor was best known for his long-running starring role in the high-school based drama, “Waterloo Road.”

Helen Siff, a character actor known for roles in “Hail, Caesar,” “You Don't Mess with the Zohan” and more, died Thursday in Los Angeles of complications following surgery for an illness, her daughter Karen Ehrenberg confirmed.
