Comcast's looming spinoff of its cable assets is leading to a messy divorce between NBC News and MSNBC, which heavily relied on the Peacock network's news division.

CNN's Marcus Mabry, Crooked Media’s Madeleine Hareringer, and ABC News’ Scott Matthews are among the big names joining the executive suite. It is losing Steve Kornacki to NBC but gaining NBC's Jacob Soboroff (both had split their time in recent years.)

MSNBC will change its name to My Source News Opinion World (MS NOW) and unveil a new logo later this year as part of the cable news channel’s spinoff from the Comcast-owned media company NBCUniversal.

An email to Versant staff announced that USA Network's sports content will merge with Golf Channel as "USA Sports," among other changes.

Left-leaning cable channel MSNBC was derided on Monday for the worst rebrand since New Coke after announcing a name change to MS NOW.

The rebranding — which stands for My Source for News, Opinion, and the World — comes as Comcast spins off several of its cable networks into a new company called Versant. The change will drop both the NBC name and the peacock logo from MSNBC 's branding.

The company will house most cable channels formerly owned by NBCUniversal, and will have more freedom when it comes to streaming live sports. Things could be about to get weird between NBCUniversal and Versant,

MSNBC will change its name later this year to MS Now (My Source News Opinion World) and drop the peacock image from its branding. These are the first significant public-facing changes in Versant's upcoming separation from Comcast's NBCUniversal.
