FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross discusses Tropical Storm Melissa as it strengthens in the Caribbean. The intensifying storm set to slam Jamaica and Haiti, bringing heavy rain, high winds and rapid storm surge posing a potentially deadly scenario in the Caribbean.
The National Hurricane Center's 8 p.m. Friday update reported that Tropical Storm Melissa is in the Caribbean Sea, 190 miles southeast of Kingston Jamaica and 225 miles southwest of Port Au Prince Haiti. Packing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, it is tracking north at 2 mph.
A tropical wave, located very near the islands in the southeastern Caribbean on Sunday, could develop by midweek — potentially into a tropical storm, experts said.
