NBA referee Zach Zarba explained why Kevin Durant wasn't assessed a technical foul near the end of overtime during the Houston Rockets' 125-124 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
For five straight seasons in OKC, Durant was a top MVP candidate. He took home the award in 2014. After establishing himself as a face of the franchise, Durant left in 2016, joining the Golden State Warriors. It was one of the most criticized moves in NBA history.
The Rockets led most of the way, but the Thunder clawed back into the game in the fourth quarter and sent the game to overtime. In the first extra period, it was Oklahoma City who built a big lead, but Houston managed to tie things up ahead of one last Thunder possession.
