Houston and the rest of Southeast Texas are about to receive their biggest dose of rain in more than a month this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Here are five big questions and what to keep in mind before the storms roll in and the puddles start to grow.
Amid widespread torrential rains, wind gusts reached as high as 45-60 mph across the Houston metro area, the National Weather Service said. In Downtown Houston, a gust of 59 mph was reported, while a 64 mph gust was measured in Hempstead.

EF-0 tornado confirmed in Grimes County
ANDERSON, Texas - The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Grimes County overnight. The NWS reported that an EF-0 touched down near Anderson, Texas, at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, during the first round of severe storms for southeast Texas.
High winds, heavy rain, and lightning strikes have left more than one hundred thousand without power in the greater Houston area early Saturday morning.
The worst of the storm came through between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday, with the hardest-hit areas seeing winds of up to 40-50 mph. CenterPoint said Saturday that 95 percent of its customers experienced no interruptions; however, about 169,000 customers saw their power knocked out during the storm's peak.
