The European Union on Friday said Meta and TitTok had breached their transparency obligations after an investigation that could result in billions of dollars in fines.

Meta and TikTok face EU scrutiny after Brussels accused them of breaching the bloc’s new online content rules.

"Allowing researchers access to platforms' data is an essential transparency obligation under the DSA," the Commission wrote.
