Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said Thursday he’ll recommend that a judge resentence Lyle and Erik Menendez nearly 30 years after the brothers were convicted of the murders of their parents – a recommendation that he said would make them eligible for immediate parole.

A Brunswick County deputy was justified in the fatal shooting of a Virginia man, the district attorney's office concluded. The incident occurred after deputies responded to a trespassing call and the suspect, Brandon Wayne Taylor, fled on foot. Taylor shot Deputy Aaron Carter twice before Carter returned fire, fatally wounding Taylor.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office is taking drug companies and pharmacies to court. The lawsuit, filed in federal court out of New Jersey, alleges that companies artificially inflated the cost of insulin prices, all while production costs remained stable.

Akim Bates, who goes by the nickname “Flash,” agreed to a plea deal on Oct. 16 in the sex-trafficking case last week, which calls for him to receive a sentence of 13 years in prison and be on parole for 5 years once he’s released. He must also register with the state as a sex offender.
