Indiana coach Curt Cignetti has officially confirmed he's happy to have brought the first national championship in football program history to Bloomington.

Chizik's 2010 title remains the most-recent national title Auburn has won, and it was almost as unlikely as Indiana's this season. Ranked No. 20 in the preseason poll, the Hoosiers are the lowest-ranked preseason team to win the national championship since the 2010 Tigers, which was ranked No. 22 in the preseason AP Poll.

The “Google Me” man, Curt Cignetti, just added a Natty feather into both his own cap and Indiana’s. With just 13 bowl trips in 130-plus years, the script flipped to a perfect 16-0 Natty run in the 2025-26 season.

In his halftime interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Cignetti ripped the officials for missing what he termed three “obvious personal fouls.” All three came on late or unnecessary hits on Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza, he said, one of which left the Heisman Trophy winner with a bloodied lip.
