The winter storm is expected to gain strength as it moves northeast off the East Coast on Saturday, bringing snow north from the Carolinas to New England into Sunday. The eastern half of the U.S. will also continue to experience frigid temperatures into next week, according to the National Weather Service’s Prediction Center.
Crews across Boston are digging out after a powerful winter storm barreled through Massachusetts beginning Sunday morning, dumping nearly two feet of snow in some areas and ranking among the city’s most significant snowfalls on record.
It is just one of many Massachusetts school districts reopening their doors after being forced to close for the past two days.
We saw snow totals climb to nearly 2 feet after lingering snow showers fell over the region on Monday, adding to the onslaught of snow New England saw. Some areas may see up to 4 or 5 extra inches by the time we go to bed Monday night.
